چکیده

Water-soluble copolymers such as polyvinylpyrrolidone and polyvinyl alcohol have been widely used detergents, paints, chemical intermediates in many industrial processes, leading to environmental concerns associated with high-volume organic compound wastewater. Therefore, this study, a combined upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor downflow hanging sponge (DHS) biosystem has applied for the treatment of synthetic water-soluble copolymer Copolymer consisted ethylene glycol propylene total molecular weight 8,500, commonly preferred automobile parts processing factory, were included influent. Overall, whole UASB–DHS system achieved favorable oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiency 86% ± 7%. In more detail, an loading rate 2.12 kg-COD ⋅ m−3⋅ day −1, UASB enhanced biodegradability wastewater, reached COD 61% 16%. Meanwhile, gel permeation chromatography analysis indicated that wastewater was primarily reduced DHS reactor. addition, massive 16S rRNA gene sequencing showed polyethylene-glycol-degrading bacteria Pelobacter sp. predominant granular sludge.

Dissolved methane oxidation and competition for oxygen in down-flow hanging sponge reactor for post-treatment of anaerobic wastewater treatment.

Post-treatment of anaerobic wastewater was undertaken to biologically oxidize dissolved methane, with the aim of preventing methane emission. The performance of dissolved methane oxidation and competition for oxygen among methane, ammonium, organic matter, and sulfide oxidizing bacteria were investigated using a lab-scale closed-type down-flow hanging sponge (DHS) reactor. Under the oxygen abun...

Poultry Slaughterhouse Wastewater Treatment Using Anaerobic Fluid Bed Reactor and Aerobic Mobile-Bed Biological Reactor

This research evaluated the efficiency of combined anaerobic-aerobic processes for the treatment of slaughterhouse wastewater. The anaerobic reactor consists of a 3.95 L Plexiglas column with 60 mm diameter and 140 cm height. The cylindrical particles of polyvinyl chloride with 2 mm diameter and 1250 kg m-3 density packed to 60 cm of column were used as biomass saving material. The d...

Coupled Anaerobic Baffled Reactor (ABR)/Activated Sludge Treatment of Synthetic Wastewater with High Concentration of Sulfate and COD

A synthetic wastewater with high concentration of sulfate and COD was treated in anaerobic baffled reactor (ABR) coupled with an activated sludge. The work was accomplished in two phases. In the first phase, the concentration of sulfate was kept constant at 500mg/l, but COD concentration was increased from (3000mg/l to 6000mg/l), consequently, COD and sulfate removal in ABR reached to 80% and 9...

Combination of Up-flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket and Down- Flow Hanging Sponge System for Removal of Color from Reactive Dyes Wastewater

This study was carried out to assess the efficiency of a combined system consisting of up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor and down-flow hanging sponge (DHS) system for color removal from reactive dyes wastewater. The UASB reactor and DHS system were operated at HRT of 6 and 2.0 h., respectively. The results obtained indicated that, the combined system was quite effective for remova...
